The Weavings of Bijar

I have been a fan of Bijars for as long as I have been interested in rugs. Even before I knew what a Bijar was I knew that I liked them because my parents have several beautiful Bijars scattered throughout their house. When I started learning about rugs in a more professional way I continued to appreciate Bijars, but I had a limited idea of what Bijars were and what came from the area. A few years ago a dealer who specializes in Bijar moved near to our shop and it was an eye opening experience. When it came time to choose a topic for the CRS paper I wanted to find a topic that was a little bit off the beaten path. It seemed that several people had written about similar topics, and one of those was general rug ID. I decided I wanted to go into a little bit of detail about a weaving area that interested me and eventually I, with Ellen’s help, settled on Bijar.
